It all began...
when my husband, Todd, and my son, Scott, and
I were traveling together and seeing the country. We vacationed in a remote
cabin in the mountains of Colorado and had a great time relaxing and enjoying
the beautiful countryside. We fell in love with the idea of living in an area
like where we had vacationed and in 2002, we left our home in the city and moved
out into the country in Central
Nebraska. We now feel like we're on vacation year round.
But something was still missing to complete our ideal world. I had always,
always planned to have many babies to love and take care of. This was not meant
to be. We are very blessed to have Scott, but we were a small family of three.
We added some four-footed family members, and eventually decided to become cat
breeders. Ragdolls attracted us, and when we met our first "rag" we knew that
this would be the cat we would breed.
(Please take a side trip and learn more
about the Ragdoll here.)
Becoming breeders is fulfilling a lifelong dream for us. No longer will we have
a small family of three. All of our 4-legged friends are considered our "kids"
in our home and are treated as such. At times, Scott can even be heard mumbling
good-naturedly that the cats get more attention than he does :-).
After choosing our breed, our next task was to find the perfect cattery name. We
decided that we would use the phrase, "Ragdolls in Nebraska". From "Ragdolls in
Nebraska" we condensed the words to Rag(doll)s-i(n)-Nebra(ska)...
and our cattery name Ragsinebra was born!
Our breeding program is designed with health the wonderful Ragdoll temperment in
mind. We are very selective in our breeding efforts to ensure that the true
Ragdoll characteristics of being outgoing, social, and lovable cats is evident
in all our kittens. This, along with maintaining good health in our lines, is at
the top of our list of priorities. Each kitten is raised underfoot in our home
and given all the love our family has to offer.
We have many to thank in helping us begin and realize our dream! Special thanks
goes to Steve and Lynne Chmelar of
Celestrail Cats, Maria
Federica of
Silmarilions, and
Bonnie Hansson of
Brier Rose. A BIG thank you
to all of you!
